
Omar and José Colón, twin brothers, were born and raised in the fields of the beautiful Island of Enchantment. From a young age, they were taught about the various products and authentic flavors of the land. From their parents, they learned the traditional family values in the world of business.
The young entrepreneurs also completed their studies in Business Administration and Management, in addition to studies at the Hotel School of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Following their father’s vision, they opened their first restaurant in the beautiful town of Cayey, P.R., celebrating with praise and honors the authentic flavor of their grandparents’ recipes.
After the devastating Hurricane María in 2017 that affected the island, both decided to seek new horizons and brought the genuine essence of Puerto Rico’s culinary art to Miami, Florida. In 2018, filled with hope, they arrived in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana and the iconic Calle Ocho to open Mofongo Puerto Rican Cuisine.
“Los Gemelos,” as they are affectionately known, have preserved their family’s heritage, elevating the nobility of Puerto Ricans around the world. With that life mission, they have spared no effort in achieving their dreams. With the great success of their first restaurant in Miami, Omar and José set out to expand their culinary concept to a larger and more versatile space, to also celebrate the culture, flavor, and entertainment of the Island of Enchantment: Puerto Rico.
